Railton Foundation Swellendam hosted the Dance & Drama Showcase events on Thursday, 11 April 2019 and Friday, 12 April 2019 at Swellendam Secondary and VRT Pitt Primary Schools respectively.

The showcase was the culmination of the dance and drama development project funded by the Community Arts & Culture Centre Federation of the Western Cape and the national Department of Arts & Culture. The drama production was an extract from a script written by Freek Oerson “Geld wat Stom is” as well as poems written by the participants during their Creative Writing workshop presented by the acclaimed Diana Ferrus. Freek Oerson is the drama facilitator for the project.

The dance showcase included the waltz and rumba (Latin American) that was danced so beautifully by the project participants and Hilton Clarke, the facilitator, is very happy with their progress. This project has a positive impact in the development of all participants. The audience really enjoyed what was presented to them on both days.

We want to thank all the contestants for their participation and want to assure them that they are winners in their own right and can be proud of their development. We really appreciate the good cooperation and support of the management and SGB of Swellendam Secondary and VRT Pitt Primary Schools.

The Board of the Foundation wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to the project participants, the sponsors, staff, volunteers and Board of the Foundation as well as the audience for making these events to remember, and we are looking forward to the continuation of the project.
