Railton Foundation Swellendam implements a Sports Development Project since February 2016 at VRT Pitt Primary School under the management of Mark Conrad

The project aims to provide an opportunity for primary school learners who otherwise would not have been interested to actively participate in sport and in doing so, identify talent in various sporting codes. The project is implemented at the school and learners from Grade 2 to Grade 7 participate in the project

Rugby, Soccer, Netball, Athletics and Volleyball are the sport codes that are currently being promoted. Last year the U/10, U/11 and U/13 teams were not full rugby teams, but the interest and enthusiasm for rugby have grown amongst the learners and we have full teams for this year. Mark has thus identified the need for a coaching clinic to teach them techniques, boost their confidence and to give them a sense of what the real deal would be.

Mark approached the Swellendam Rugby Club and the President, Mario Windvoël and Head Coach, Enock Wawini, immediately adhered to the request and the coaching clinic was presented on 8 March 2017 at the school grounds.

On behalf of the Foundation, the learners and the school we express our gratitude to Swellendam Rugby Club Executive, coaching team and the players for the opportunity and for their willingness to make a difference in the lives of our children.
