Railton Foundation Swellendam, in partnership with the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP), presented a Youth Leadership Programme on the 15th and 16th of June 2018 at “Die Stroom”, Bontebok Park.

Forty young people from Swellendam, Suurbraak and Buffelsjag were invited to participate. They were youth from different schools, the Most Wanted Drama Group, the Swellendam Youth Council, the Foundation’s street soccer development team and other institutions.

The focus areas covered by the facilitators, Ms Irma de Lange and Ms Zuki Sityebi were youth leadership skills, democracy education, understanding the three spheres of government, the role of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament and the Constitution of South Africa. Most of the participants found this programme very informative and gave them a better understanding of legislative processes, how to submit petitions and submissions, etcetera.

Railton Foundation Swellendam is really grateful that we can be instrumental in the development of our youth and value the partnerships with the WCPP and SANParks (Bontebok Park management team).
